Engineering Admissions:

This is probably the one part of engineering nobody looks forward to. The grueling, tiresome admission process probably confuses even the men who came up with it. Of course, we here at stupidsid.com have simplified it for you.
Now, the whole procedure is under a central system called CAP (Central Admission Process).
Not exactly ‘whole’, considering that the following colleges in Mumbai are currently NOT under CAP. They have their own admission procedure:-
  • V.J.T.I. (Autonomous)
  • U.I.C.T. (Autonomous)
  • And remaining Maharashtra colleges

Admission Process for VJTI/UICT/COEP/SGGS/WCE

1.  Collect the form from VJTI or UICT. Keep visiting our site for the dates of collection of forms. The dates will also be displayed on the institutes’ website. Note that there is only one common form for all the five autonomous institutes in Maharashtra viz. VJTI, ICT, COEP, SGGS and WCE
2. Fill the form and submit it at these centres with the following documents
a) 12th Marksheet
b) CET Marksheet,
c) Leaving Certificate
d) 10th Marksheet
e) Caste Certificate and Caste validation certificate (if applicable)
NOTE: Originals and photocopies of the above documents are to be provided at the time of admissions
3.   Check your merit list rank on the COEP (College of Engineering, Pune) website. As per the given schedule, pack your bags and head to COEP. As you’ve probably figured by now, it’s in Pune.
Remember to carry a cheque with you. Fee details can be found on the COEP website. If you do get in, payment of  fees has to be made on the spot.
4. Once you’re there, the admission process is fairly simple. Along with a number of students, you’ll be seated in a massive auditorium. A huge screen in the centre of the hall will keep reminding you about the available seats in different branches of different colleges (VJTI, UICT, COEP, )
5. If you’re in luck, the seat you want will still be available when your merit number is called out.
6. Now, unless your merit number is 1, you’ll probably figure out yourself that you have to walk down to the desk once your merit number is called, cheque and various documents in hand. The people in charge should take care of things after that.
