Indian Education Society's College of Architecture, Bandra

Location :
Its located right opposite Lilavati hospital in Bandra (W). Its slightly far from the railway station (Bandra-W Rly and Harbour Rly) and you wouldn't want to walk to the college. Takes about 15 minutes by rick, i.e., if you find one...it becomes a major task on most days. One of the best locations among all the architecture colleges though.

Rank:
Generally the fourth preference after Rachna, JJ, and K. Raheja.

Infrastructure :
Not very great, but decent. The building is common for architecture, management, event management and high school students.
3rd-6th floor is for architecture. The college has air-conditioned computer labs, library, seminar room and lecture rooms. The computer lab is well equipped with plotters and the library has a good collection of almost all new and useful books.

Fees:
Rs.55,000/year for the 1st & 2nd years
Rs.49,000/year for the 3rd & 4th years
Rs.45,000 for the 5th year.
But be ready to cough up another Rs.8,000-10,000 aside for printouts, photocopies, plots, sheets, rotrings and other such sundries.

Faculty :
Unbearable teaching...do NOT be dependent on them at all! Majority of them are visiting staff. Only a  handful of them are dedicated. Also, with the new principal, the college has become stricter and more discipline is expected from students.

Attendance :
Bunking full on! Assignments, punishments or test papers are to be solved if attendance is below 50 %. But you can always chhapofy! Actions are only taken if you are in critical defaulter say less than 30%-40%.

Crowd :
The crowd is good enough. You’ll find all kinds of people here. Guys should be particularly interested in this college after it is said that there is a high probability of meeting hot chics here. The ratio of girls to guys is about 75:25.

Canteen :
Bad! Bad! Bad! There are 2 canteens, one on the 4th floor and another on the ground floor, which is the sarvajanikcanteen (common for architecture, management, event management, school kids and outsiders). The 4th floor canteen is just like the pantry car of the Indian railways. Chips, cold drinks, samosas, vada pav and cutlets are available there. The sarvajanik canteen which should be merely 30sq.m., provides all variety of food. But the food is not that great.

Hangouts :
Candies, Barista, Garcia’s, Five Spice, Sai Sagar restaurant near by, carter road, linking road and hill road. Bandstand is not far. And after all its Bandra, the queen of the suburbs...it will never let you run of options.

Festivals :
AVARTAN is a 3 day festival.
1st two days have on the spots - jam session, seminars, exhibition, and treasure hunt. The last day which is the most exciting has performances such as the fashion show and various group dance shows by students
