Location :
KJ Somaiya College of Engineering is closest to Vidhyavihar railway station (C.Rly.), a mere 10 min walk. Bus stops towards South Mumbai & Chembur (Harbour Rly.) are in proximity too, However very exhaustive travelling for people coming from western suburbs
Infrastructure :
Not very great, but decent. The new building is still not furnished, will take at least 6-8 months for it to be full fledged. The campus is huge, perhaps one of the biggest, but it is not very well maintained.
6th floor of the new building is meant only for rink football!!...a football lover’s solace…
A huge ground which can be used for cricket & football.
Fees:
Rs. 82,500/year
Grade:
A+
Faculty :
Teaching is said to be unbearable. “Do NOT be dependent on them!” says one of the students
Attendance :
According to the students the college is little soft on defaulters. Assignment punishments are given if attendance is below 60 % (atleast in the 1st year). But you can always chhapofy!
Crowd :
As per engineering standards the crowd is good enough. You’ll find all kinds of people here, from nerds to the so called “kewl ppl” and also the smart lot. Even the gunda variety is said to be found here.
Canteen :
Not bad, cleanliness issues, but overflowing with students most of the times. Food items of all types are available.
Hangouts :
McDonald’s, Cream Centre, Fame & Cinemax Adlabs which are a 15-20 minute walk from college. CCD which is again a 10 minute walk. And that’s about it!!
Festivals :
Abhiyantriki (technical festival) held in October and Symphony
(Cultural Festival) is held in January.
Orion Racing India is an international racing team of enthusiastic engineers
from K. J., determined to get the most out of their educational experience.
Through passion and commitment, students collaborate as a team to design,
build, test and race an open-wheeled formula style race car that competes
in the annual Formula SAE competition. Having developed three such cars
(Barracuda600, Itanta and Stallion) the team is presently working on their
fourth and their most advanced machine.

Excellent, this is where K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCoE) probably scores over other colleges. The electronics and EXTC branches particularly get very good placements. Verdict:
Overall, a very good college and must be among the top choices of the student, if he resides in this part of Mumbai. For others, traveling becomes a disadvantage. However, for those who do not mind spending time traveling, it’s a good option.
